Remodeling Sentiment Improves

Remodeling market sentiment saw an increase in Q3 2025 after a minor decrease earlier in the year. Data from the National Association of Home Builders, shows the one point increase of the Remodeling Market Index (RMI) to 60. In comparison, Q2 was a 59, and Q1 was a 63. While the year over year, RMI is down this uptick is a positive shift. NAHB also expects in 2026 for remodeling spending to increase.

The National Association of Realtors®’ (NAR) 2025 Remodeling Impact Report indicated that consumers spent an estimated $603 billion on remodeling activity in 2024.

The top projects with high levels of satisfaction include primary bedroom suite additions, kitchen and bathroom upgrades, new roofing and entire kitchen renovations. In the survey, respondents indicated the overall reason for completing an remodel was to upgrade worn-out surfaces, finishes and materials at 27%. Following is improving energy efficiency, looking to sell or change the space and improved livability. Out of the survey about 30% had a professional to do all of the work.
